Rave Wave

In the port of the Italian city of Trieste stretches a 1000-meter-long and 20-meter-wide pier, protecting the harbor basins behind it from the sea's waves.

Today, this section of the port is no longer used for cargo handling. Instead, young people have been using the southern tip of the pier for nighttime gatherings for many years.

The challenge of the design was to create a space in this area of the pier where people could gather, while simultaneously reactivating the old outdoor swimming pool, which is also located in the area of the southern tip of the pier. Furthermore, a landscape architectural concept had to be developed for the city's waterfront.

My design for the dance club envisions a steel skeleton reminiscent of the large cranes that once characterized the coastal landscape of Trieste. This skeleton serves as a supporting structure and circulation space for the hanging boxes within it, which contain all the necessary functions for the dance club.
